Schezwan Upma

Ingredient – (1 cup = 150 ml)

  • 2 cup fine rava

  • 3 tablespoon oil

  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic

  • ½ tablespoon finely chopped ginger

  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped onion

  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped capsicum

  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped carrot

  • 3 tablespoon finely chopped cabbage

  • 2 ½ tablespoon schezwan sauce

  • White pepper as required

  • Salt as required

How to make recipe –

  • Take 3 tablespoon oil in pan. Heat the oil on a medium flame.

  • Add 1 tablespoon garlic and ½ tablespoon ginger. Saute it till garlic and ginger turns brown in colour. Make sure that it does’nt get burned.

  • Add 2 tablespoon finely chopped onion and saute for 1-2 minutes.

  • Add 1 tablespoon finely chopped capsicum and saute for 1-2 minutes.

  • Add 2 tablespoon finely chopped carrot and saute for 1-2 minutes.

  • Add 3 tablespoon finely chopped cabbage and saute for 1-2 minutes.

  • Add rava and mix well.

  • Start with roasting the rava, stir often while roasting the rava. The rava or sooji grains should become fragrant and start to look dry,separate and crisp. Don’t brown the rava.

  • Add 2 2/1 tablespoon schezwan sauce.

  • Add white pepper and salt as required.

  • Add 3 1/2 cups of water to it and cover the lid, till it gets completely cooked. just check in between to make sure that the upma does’nt get burned.

  • Serve hot and garnish with finely chopped cabbage.
